A Prayer for the Day

Photo by Ric Rodrigues on Pexels.com

Dear God,

Help me do my work today with an awareness that You Are,

that You care,

and because You care, I can bring problems and concerns

to You and cry out for help.

Those problems and concerns may not go away, but

they are no longer overwhelming because I have gone to You

and given them to You for You to solve as You wish.

Let me not compare myself to anyone else in anything,

because You do not compare me to anyone else here on earth.

Since You do not compare me to anyone else, why should I?

  1. What a beautiful, heart-felt prayer! I am particularly drawn to the part about not comparing myself to anyone else in anything. Your reason for this is solid—because God doesn’t compare us to anyone else on earth. Your thoughts sent me back to my Bible; which is ALWAYS a good thing! “ You should each judge your own conduct. If it is good, then you can be proud of what you yourself have done, without having to compare it with what someone else has done.” Galatians 3:4 (GNT)
    Blessings!

Thank you! God gives each one of us different talents, different personalities, different energy levels–and He keeps all that in mind when He looks at us. I have a tendency to compare myself to a friend of mine, and wish I was like her. But, in God’s view, there is no reason for that. The only One He wants us to compare ourselves to is Jesus. Comparison is good only if it urges me to strive to be better in my own life, in my “own field”, as I like to think of it.

  3. Such an authentic beautiful prayer!
